Target Funds Reading Garden at Fayetteville Street

Students at Fayetteville Street Elementary School got a boost recently when Target established a Reading Garden at the school.
Target selected Fayetteville Street Elementary School to receive a grant to establish a Reading Garden and to buy books for the Media Center. Target employees, students and volunteers recently spent a day planting butterfly bushes, evergreens, mums, and perennials in the new garden.
The garden also features a brick walkway in the shape of an “F” for Fayetteville along with a birdhouse. Students can see the garden from the Media Center, and the expectation is that by providing a pleasant place for reading, students will read more. Media Coordinator Rose Alston reports that there will be something blooming in the garden all year.
