Hurd Named a Top CFO

DPS Chief Operating Officer Hank Hurd is among the 38 financial leaders to be named a Top CFO by Business Leader Media. The award winners were chosen from more than 200 nominations, and all are Top Finance Executives who have demonstrated leadership in business, or who have made significant achievements in the world of finance. The business leaders were recognized at an awards ceremony on October 13.

In addition to Hurd, financial officers from Rex Healthcare, Duke University Health System, Tekelec, and others were recognized. Hurd has 33 years of experience in school finance, including several years as head of finance at the State Department of Public Instruction. He is a CPA and has received numerous awards, including the Award for Financial Excellence in Reporting from the American Association of School Business Officials numerous times. He also has received the Award for Financial Achievement in Reporting from the Governmental Finance Officers Association and the NC State Treasurer’s Governmental Accounting/Financial Management Award.
