The Office of Advanced Academics supports the learning needs of PreK - 12th grade students who have been identified as being able to perform at high academic levels compared to their peers. We also work to identify students who have shown the potential to perform at higher levels, and we firmly believe in taking the step necessary to identify such students regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or zip code.

Students identified as advanced learners receive instructional services that provide appropriate levels of challenge and rigor in addition to what is provided in regular classroom instruction.

The support that Advanced Academics provides includes:

  • Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students and comprehensive programming in schools

  • K-2 Academic Talent Development for all DPS students

  • Nurturing the potential of all students

  • Advanced Placement/AP programming including equitable access

  • Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM)

  • Equitable course selection for secondary students

Programs focused on the advanced learning needs of our students are one of many ways DPS strives to ensure appropriate learning for advanced learners while supporting the growth of all students.
