We are working on many ways to engage families and our wider Durham community in conversations about, and support for, the future of DPS school food. These may include a DPS cookbook, parent listening sessions, nutrition education for the whole family, community celebrations, and more.

While we get going with these big ideas, please share your thoughts, questions, concerns, and brilliant ideas about DPS school meals here. Our team will review submissions daily, and we will respond within 5 business days. If you have an urgent matter, please contact Dr. Linden Thayer (919-384-5917) and leave a voice message or text. 

Our monthly virtual series, Let's Talk About DPS School Food, happens the first Wednesday of every month from 5-6 pm. Click here to join the conversation with families, community, and DPS school food staff. This series resumes on Wednesday September 4, 2024 (note we've moved from Zoom to GoogleMeet).

Let's Talk DPS School Food!

The next opportunities for families and the DPS community to chat with DPS School Food leadership is Thursday March 14 from 5-6 pm on Zoom. Click here to register for the event. March's topic is ALLERGIES/SPECIAL DIETS! We will share current DPS practices around allergies and special diets, and open the floor to our collective questions and ideas. 

On our minds: What are the biggest family concerns around allergies? How can we ensure all students are safe while also offering delicious and nutritious items (like tree nuts, for example)? How could the special diet process be improved from a family's perspective? How can we menu to be more inclusive on the standard menu? And more.
