Philosophy

Fayetteville Street School is a traditional K-5 school that provides a 1:20 teacher/student ratio. Teachers engage students in varied and innovative instructional techniques and strategies. Parents are an integral part of the learning process. We see parental involvement as a critical aspect of the many educational initiatives we have undertaken with our students.

Teaching

Student achievement has been enhanced by the following means: offering remediation sessions on teacher workdays; increasing the level of parental involvement; implementing broad-scale uses of various technology in grades K-5; enhancing our staff development opportunities; instituting Guided Reading and  encouraging teacher-led initiatives; and making conscious efforts at collaborative manner to give our children greater chances at success.

Several academic recognition programs have been designed and implemented to acknowledge a broad range of students from those who earn "A's and B's" to those who have achieved noteworthy improvements in their course work and/or behavior.

Services for Academically/Intellectually Gifted Students

We provide a pullout resource program for our Academically/Intellectually Gifted students. Individual teachers provide enhancement by accelerating learning through advanced projects and promoting higher-level thinking skills. Creativity is fostered through discussion, projects, and individual choice.
