Great story about bridging the cultural gap between students and teachers
Useful websites for students:
Website for ELLs, newcomers in particular, created by a former Lakewood teacher, Melanie Keating! It contains tons of links to letters +sound practice, sight words, etc.
Learning Chocolate ---contains pretty much any vocabulary topic you need. Great practice for students to listen to, read, and practice new vocabulary. I recommend providing a notebook for them to write new words (if they can copy English print) as they practice on the website.
