O'Neil-Dunne

Ms. O’Neil-Dunne joined the Glenn team in August of 2022. Ms. O’Neil-Dunne is a gifted educator who continues to work every day to improve her craft and skill. She achieved National Board Certification while teaching remotely during the COVID epidemic and as a certified Hill Center tutor she has been trained in their programs and provides targeted instruction to all students. Most importantly though, her students at Glenn benefit from her clear instruction, strategic planning, and structured approach to teaching and learning.

Last year, Ms. O’Neil-Dunne was expecting her first baby in December. Glenn had the unique ability to provide her a half year intervention position before she took maternity leave. While the position was initially set up to provide differentiated support to our primary students, Ms. O’Neil-Dunne made the role so much more. To help a first year teacher, she modeled instruction, led classroom management, and supported the teacher for the first month of the year in all areas. After that, she offered to support another first year teacher who was serving some of Ms. O’Neil-Dunne’s students from the previous year. She moved into that teacher’s classroom and helped her reset her routines and procedures and modeled effective instruction and engagement. We know that there are few positions more difficult than being a first year teacher - especially in elementary school. Ms. O’Neil-Dunne made it her mission to ensure these teachers felt successful and supported.

Another first grade teacher was out every few weeks to receive medical treatment. Ms. O’Neil-Dunne gladly jumped in to sub whenever she was out to ensure her students kept learning with her positive and kind spirit. Today in education we so often hear no, or we can’t do that. With Ms. O’Neil-Dunne, the answer is always, “Yes, I can do that.” with a smile. She exemplifies the best in teaching and her commitment to her students, families, and colleagues is unparalleled.
