8th Grade AP

Mr. Roderick Boyles, 8th Grade Assistant Principal

I’m Mr. Roderick Boyles, the 8th Grade Assistant Principal at Brogden Middle School, and I am dedicated to preparing students for their next steps in education and beyond. I earned my B.S. in Physics and my MSA from East Carolina University. My journey in education began as a 7th Grade Math teacher in Duplin County, and I later continued in the same role in Wake County before returning to Duplin and Franklin counties to serve as an Elementary and Middle School Assistant Principal. My path eventually led me to Durham Public Schools, where I am proud to serve as an Assistant Principal at Brogden.

Outside of work, I love golfing, gaming, and spending time with my family. I am excited to continue serving the Brogden community and look forward to helping our students achieve their goals and reach their full potential!

24-25 8th Grade Team

In 8th Grade, we strive to prepare students for the transition to high school by modeling our structure after a high school setting. Unlike the formalized rotational teams in earlier grades, our 8th-grade teams are identified by content rather than cohort, helping students adjust to a more subject-specific schedule. This approach fosters independence, responsibility, and academic readiness for high school.
